If that fails, just start planning for the future. See, when I was a brother to my sister, if something like that happened, I'd say, "Look, don't tell Mom and Dad. Yet. For your own good. Because you can use it as a bargaining chip later, when you do something really stupid. Then we can balance it out. If not, say six months go by, and you don't say anything, I'll pay you 50 bucks."
