Not many of us took ALICE COOPER seriously at first. The girl's name, the snake, the outrageous toys and visual effects on stage—all these combined to heap a certain amount of criticism upon the man and the group. Until the intrinsic talent began to show, that is.
It was Salvador Dali, one of the world's greatest artists, who was perhaps the first to become aware of the group's potential. He related Cooper's third generation rock to one of his sensational paintings—and the world has since proved him right! For Alice Cooper's music conveys an image in its totality, just like a fine painting. The band performs in a constant action-reaction sphere, a magnification, a semi-controlled explosion from the seething masses of us. Thus we are liberated as they are liberated. It's a highly original kind of complete entertainment, and Alice is the star of the show!
Their latest album, "Billion Dollar Babies" on Warner Bros. K.56013, transmits uninhibited excitement all the way and it's undoubtedly Alice Cooper's best to date. They've had much success in the singles charts lately, and their "Elected" and "Hello Hooray" are included in this tremendous hard-driving set of rockers with outstanding new numbers like "Raped And Freezin'", "Generation Landslide" and of course the title track. Superb packaging in the form of a snakeskin wallet with massive million dollar bill enclosed, and all the lyrics on the inside sleeve.
Personnel comprises Neal Smith (percussion), Michael Bruce (guitar, piano, organ), Dennis Dunaway (bass), Glen Buxton (lead guitar) with Alice himself on harmonica and those searing vocals.
Recently they swept the British music polls, and now Alice Cooper looks forward to the most rewarding year of his career in '73.
