Kirshner introduced In Concert. The first show that was something of milestone in TV rock. It featured Alice Cooper and was taped at Madison Square Gardens instead of at a normal TV studio. Because it was Alice at his grossest- several areas in the country refused to show the film, creating a controversy which did nothing to harm rock TV - or Alice.
The kids wanted to watch it and Kirshner gave it to them. Groups realized the potential of TV and joined the queue to be on his programmes and the TV networks were amazed to find that ratings for rock shows were beating the established TV favourites like detective series, old movies and the ever popular American chat-show.
