Welcome To My Nightmare Review
WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE
Alice Cooper (Atlantic SD18130)
Soundtrack process job with great arrangements and Cooper camping an odd stage voice. Alice on Broadway? Another notch in the '70s rock comedy of manners. (John Swenson)
Welcome To My Nightmare is the product of many hands. The literary dimension is apparently Cooper's responsibility. the steps he takes to grow without closing the door on his past are hesitant though promising. The ancient device of dream vision, which frames Nightmare, is a brilliant solution. The nightmare theme dissociates him from his scenario and his fans' hate, yet retains their allegiance by giving them the horror show evil they delight in. The album's sound proceeds from Bob Ezrin, one of the most eccentric and therefor interesting producers in the business. Nightmare is probably the best Alice Cooper album since Love It To Death. Big deal. (Jim Cusimano)
